Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Town Hall #3

NIH is collaborating with the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) on a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) pilot which focuses on testing the effectiveness and usability of two DMS Plan templates. During Town Hall #3, NIH program officials participating in the pilot will be sharing their preliminary observations on the first rounds of DMS Plans submitted to NIH. Information will also be shared on Phase 2 of the pilot which will focus on cost principles and budgeting issues related to data sharing.

NIH is collaborating with the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) on a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) pilot. This session provided updates on the progress of Phase 1 of the NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Pilot, which focuses on testing the effectiveness and usability of two DMS Plan templates. This session also discussed planning for Phase 2 of the pilot, which will focus on budgeting and costing issues related to the new NIH DMS Policy.

NIH is collaborating with the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) on a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) pilot. As part of Phase 1 of the pilot, which tested standardized DMS Plan templates including new web-based DMPTool templates to support generation of compliant plans, applicants and participating recipient institutions are invited to participate in this listening session between the FDP and the NIH staff. The goal is to provide an opportunity for feedback on the DMS Plan templates currently being tested.

Under the DMS policy, NIH expects investigators and institutions to: 1) Plan and budget for the managing and sharing of data, 2) Submit a DMS plan for review when applying for funding, and 3) Comply with the approved DMS plan. Use this policy overview to understand each of these expectations.
